But I Live: Three Stories of Child Survivors of the Holocaust

But I Live

Explore the first stories

‘But I Live’ is the result of a unique collaborative research initiative focused on Holocaust survivors and their testimonies. Beginning in 2019, graphic novelists, Holocaust education professionals, historians, and researchers came together to gather the experiences of child survivors of the Holocaust. Artists Miriam Libicki, Barbara Yelin, and Gilad Seliktar were paired with survivors David Schaffer, Emmie Arbel, and brothers Nico and Rolf Kamp respectively, engaging in collaborative storytelling to develop visual narratives that honour the survivors’ memories. Met with international success, ‘But I Live’ continues to be the cornerstone of the SCVN methodology and guides our work going forward.

First published in 2022, ‘But I Live’ is available in hardcover, paperback, and e-book.
