'Kokum Dorothy's Story'

This documentary short film features the powerful story of Dorothy (Sekan) Visser (nee Whiskeyjack), a First Nations elder from Saddle Lake, Treaty 6 territory, who was taken to an Indian residential school at age five. Dorothy is working closely with Métis freelance illustrator Natasha Donovan, who will transform her life experiences into a graphic novel with the goal of creating a compelling visual biography to foster understanding, promote healing, and ensure these vital stories of Indigenous resilience are amplified globally.
